Stairs were a Problem…
Stairs were becoming a problem. Jerry didn’t like to admit it, but he found himself planning his days around a few unsteady trips to the second floor. He held tight to the railing and rarely carried anything that weighed more than a couple of pounds or required two hands. A few times, he’d felt his heels clip on the front of the stair treads, but had fortunately been able to steady himself in time. Still, he found himself nervous and uncomfortable with every trip and it was actually a relief when his daughter, Joanne, suggested looking into a stairlift to make things a little easier.
A Stairlift: The Perfect Solution
After doing some research and checking out ratings and reviews online, Jerry and Joanne decided to get a quote from Stannah. They liked the idea of dealing directly with the manufacturer. So, Joanne made a phone call and they were able to schedule an appointment for a free home visit right away. The next day, Tony came by the house and measured the stairs. They were greeted with a warm smile from Cheri, who brought them into the showroom, where Tony was already waiting for them. Finally seeing the stairlifts in person was the missing puzzle piece for Jerry. He appreciated how the footrest fold button allowed him to get into the chair comfortably at the bottom of the stairs, without having to bend over or worry about tripping. He found the hand control to be very easy to use, something he thought might be difficult due to this arthritis. At the top of the stairs, Jerry had a bit of trouble operating the manual swivel levers to turn onto the top landing but was happy to learn that Stannah offered a powered swivel feature that allowed the chair to turn automatically. Hearing about these features was one thing, but actually seeing how they worked and how they would impact his experience made all the difference.
Installation: Quick, Easy, Hassle-Free
Once they’d seen everything, Jerry and Joanne thanked Tony for his time and headed home. The next day, they looked over the quotation and reviewed some of the things they’d seen in the showroom. They discussed their options and decided to move forward with Stannah. A quick call to the Stannah office and their order was processed. Since the stairs were straight, Jenn, in the service department, was able to schedule an installation for later that week and after just a few hours of work, Jerry took his first ride on his Stannah stairlift.
